Installation of my Ecowitt Wittboy weather station GW2001 & WH57 video. If you want to know how a normal guy from Wisconsin installed his and connected it to Home Assistant, this video is for you.
I start at opening the boxes for the first time, then run thru what little set-up there is. After that I build a pole mount for this to go n the top of a dead tree. This is done with free scrap metal laying in the Garage, so I challenge you to find a fault with it! Next we go for a 40 foot up ride in the man-lift just because we can. The last step is me connecting it to home assistant with about 6 lines of text to copy from one screen to another. Simple as simple gets.
This unit can be connected to the cloud via several common weather API’s should you wish to do so. The data fed into Home Assistant is a local webhook from HA into the hub, so all local only if you wish.
