Today we will be installing an AC condensate line on the unit in my bedroom so that I don’t have to remember to empty the pail every other day.
I was getting frustrated with my old setup, where I had to empty the pail every other day from my bedroom air conditioner unit. Yes, it’s not that hard of a job, but the humid days were approaching 5 gallons of water – something had to change! Running the condensate line outside seemed like the perfect solution.
However, besides just running the hose out the window and letting it drain on the deck, I discovered that could cause many other problems later on. Nor was I willing to risk that. In fact, I decided to do some further research and find a better way to install an AC condensate line.
In addition to just getting rid of the pail, this solution would help me prevent wet floors, fill up the septic tank with distilled water, and worry less about my AC unit. Furthermore, it was a relatively easy job that required some PEX tubing and a few fittings – nothing too complicated!
So, in the end, I’m no longer dealing with the hassle of emptying the pail or worrying about my air conditioner. What’s more, I’ve learned a new skill and gained confidence in my DIY abilities. Next time you’re thinking of tackling a similar project, take heart knowing that it’s possible to make a difference with a little bit of effort.
Lastly, if you want to see how I did this installation yourself, check out the video description below for more information on what you’ll need and how to do it.
