A Sketchy Decision I May Regret In The Next Rain Storm

A Sketchy Decision I May Regret In The Next Rain Storm

Hey everyone, Sir GoodEnough here, and welcome back to What Are We Fixing Today! Today, we’re tackling a big problem with my little white trailer – a persistent leak that led to some nasty mold last summer. It was a really frustrating situation, and honestly, I made a sketchy decision I may regret in the next rain storm. I knew I needed a proper, lasting solution, so we’re diving right in!

First, I tried a quick fix, which you can see in the video. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but as you’ll see, it wasn’t quite as durable as I’d hoped. The goal was to completely seal the top seal in the back door to prevent future issues. Furthermore, the mold was a serious concern, and it’s important to address these problems head-on.

Then, after I got home with the trailer, I decided to re-do the weather seal. And, so far, it’s been holding up surprisingly well! However, I have my doubts it will last – frankly, I’m bracing myself for another potential problem. It’s always a gamble with DIY projects, and honestly, this felt like a temporary fix. What’s more, the whole thing highlights the importance of a solid foundation for any repair.

We’ll be carefully observing this weather seal and seeing if it can withstand the elements. Secondly, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the situation. Lastly, I’m putting out good vibes and hoping for the best! I’m committed to giving this fix a fighting chance, and I’ll keep you updated on its progress. Next, we’ll continue our cottage shenanigans!

I retired from a large mid-western medical equipment manufacturer on December 31 (2019) and decided to try to let everyone in on my life and my transition into retirement. I have a varied set of interests. I live in a 90 year old cape cod in the middle of a small city of 70,000 people. I have a small lot across the street from the city seat of government, but despite that I have a 1952 Allis Chalmers farm tractor that I drive around the city from time to time. My wife has a business that has me fixing and creating cool home decor out of broken windows and drywall screws. I have been known to buy things on 'for sale' lists, fix it up, clean it up, generally add value and sell it off. Oh, yes, I'm getting chickens! But first I have to build the chicken coop and run. It will be like no other you have ever seen. Also will give me something to do. I am into home automation, have a Home Assistant enabled home and so will the chickens! I'll have to give them a password...
