In this video we do lawn mower battery replacement on my Craftsman riding lawn mower Model No. 917.270824 and test it to see if it starts. This model is made by Husqvarna and is functionally identical to several mowers on the market, so this method of replacement should be usable to a lot of people.
That being said, this process is similar to changing the battery in almost any lawn mower. Be sure to keep the loose battery cables away from touching anything to avoid accidental short circuits.
Also clean the terminals with a wire brush before re-attaching the cables to the posts. This assures a good connection and prevents build-up of corrosion.
Don’t over-tighten the terminals. They should be snug, not over-tight. A washer between the bolt head and the lead terminal helps prevent distortion and damage to the terminal. Use of star washers decreases the connection resistance and increases the resistance to rattling loose.
