Air Compressor Conversion to 220v & New Installation Industrial Air Model# IL1682066

Air Compressor Conversion to 220v & New Installation

I have been fighting with 2 old used crappy air compressors for years. I was finally fed up… I decided to go to Blains Farm & Fleet to buy and do the Air Compressor Conversion to 220v I’ve been wanting for years.

I found this by doing online shopping of about 6 different stores. I wanted to pick it up local if I could, and I wanted a 2 cylinder belt driven model compressor that was run with a motor that would run at 110v and 220v. My Garage is quite some distance from the main breaker box. Motors and stuff running out in the garage run better at the higher voltage. The other model I was considering was a horizontal mounted tank with roughly the same HP and CFM, but being Menards the price was 10% higher with an 11% rebate. So it would end up roughly the same price, but Menards would hold my money for a couple of months before sending it back to me. I decided to go with this one.

Oh, one thing very interesting. In the store there was a floor model of a Dewalt Air Compressor (Dewalt DXCMLA1683066) that cost ~ $759 (Almost double the $499 for this one). It was painted yellow, but had almost the EXACT same size and shape tank, same motor, same compressor, same switch and gauges, and same fan shroud. All same – same. In other words it was almost the exact same machine… It was just yellow and had the Dewalt name. That’s some expensive paint and decal, my brother…

The video takes you thru the buying process, box opening and break-in, installation of my plumbing, conversion to 220v, and final installation.

I plan to do a follow-up in about a year…

Sooner if it breaks…

I retired from a large mid-western medical equipment manufacturer on December 31 (2019) and decided to try to let everyone in on my life and my transition into retirement. I have a varied set of interests. I live in a 90 year old cape cod in the middle of a small city of 70,000 people. I have a small lot across the street from the city seat of government, but despite that I have a 1952 Allis Chalmers farm tractor that I drive around the city from time to time. My wife has a business that has me fixing and creating cool home decor out of broken windows and drywall screws. I have been known to buy things on 'for sale' lists, fix it up, clean it up, generally add value and sell it off. Oh, yes, I'm getting chickens! But first I have to build the chicken coop and run. It will be like no other you have ever seen. Also will give me something to do. I am into home automation, have a Home Assistant enabled home and so will the chickens! I'll have to give them a password...
